argument on the internet

Getting into an argument on the internet is a lot like running a race in the Special Olympics. You might win, but you're still retarded.

Bluetooth

I was standing in line at Bank of America, to make a deposit. In front of me, a woman in her 40's began a conversation and carried on for some time, in a bit of an agitated tone. She was loud and I was becoming annoyed, I looked at her several times, but was ignored. She was quiet a few minutes, then started another conversation, but this time, the tone was calmer. After moving forward in line while talking, she turned to face me. I was shocked; she had no phone, Bluetooth or other communication device.

The person behind me began to stare also as he too was duped. I looked over at him and said, "Gee, since the invention of the Bluetooth, schizophrenia looks normal".

Would You Choose Sarah Palin as Your Pastor?

Today's ABC news visited a Southern Baptist University to ask this question; Would you be happy with Sarah Palin only a "heart beat" away from the presidency? Those interviewed agreed that they would. Then, the only other question asked was, would you choose her for your pastor? They all answered in the negative. ABC then launched a report of the woman's role in the position of pastor and the controversy this has created.

What the heck? The last I read, Ms. Palin was not seeking the position of pastor. In the scope of news and politics, what does this have to do with anything? Rather than interviewing those in the church, why not ask the same question of mechanics? "Sarah Palin is running for vice president, but would you select her to work on your Toyota?" Or, "Would you consider her to repair your plumbing problems?" I don't think she is looking to fill any of these roles. Who makes this stuff up?

Free Estimate at a Substantial Fee

We had to retain the services of a plumber recently due to water leaking under the house. After consulting the yellow pages, I selected three that advertised "Free Estimates". When we called, all three said the estimates were free however, there would be a "diagnostic fee" of $80. The explanation was that, if they had to look under the house, it went from a free estimate to a diagnostic fee. Huh?

Irony

Maxine was driving down the street in a sweat because she had an important meeting and couldn't find a parking place.

Looking up toward heaven, she said, 'Lord, take pity on me.

If you find me a parking place I will go to church every Sunday for the rest of my life and give up tequila.'

Miraculously, a parking place appeared.

She looked up again and said, 'Never mind. I found one.'

Facial Rejuvenation Center

This radio ad for the Facial Rejuvenation Center in Nevada caught my attention:

I had lines on my face from the sun… When I put pen to paper, I saw that I was spending more on the maintenance of my truck than on my skin care.

Let's see, the average cost to maintain a vehicle, oil change, tires, alignment, spark plugs... Uh, yes, cars are costly, but should we compare our "skin care" with the cost of car maintenance? Who is so vain that they need to spend that much on skin care?

Why not compare it to home maintenance? "Wow, when I put pen to paper, I saw I was spending more on the maintenance of my home than on my skin care". Or, let's compare it with family maintenance....

Hoax

These are awesome photos, but watch out when you in the hills. This will freak you out.
Hello to all;
Yesterday the family went out in the hills South East of Reno we were rock hunting and picnicing and enjoying a Spring day. Mason, our son yelled out saying, 'come look at this' We all tip-toed in that
direction for a look. Here is what we saw.

I tend not to believe this happened to the writer. Who goes to this desolation to “picnic”? And “Mason yelled come look at this (remember, they were rock hunting) and they “tip toed” ????? Do they “tip toe” to all calls of “hey, come look at this”? I am visualizing it as I write, the nurd family tip toeing through to desert, looking for rocks (and we can see from the picture that they chose an excellent place for this event, just crappy rocks.

“Hey Mason, ‘tip toe’ over here and collect some of these rocks that look like every other friggin rock out here. You can put them in your crappy rock collection and take them to show and tell at school. What, oh, they don’t have show and tell in high school?”

Obama and the Holocaust Museum

Barack Obama paid a solemn visit this morning to Yad Vashem, Israel's Holocaust museum, laying a white flower wreath on a memorial to Jews killed by the Nazis.

"Let our children come here and know this history so they can add their voices to proclaim never again," Obama wrote in the Jerusalem museum's guest book.

At the Jerusalem museum, the presumptive Democratic nominee for president wore a yarmulke for a brief ceremony before a flame commemorating those who died in Treblinka, Buchenwald and other Nazi concentration camps. Obama laid the wreath on a stone slab that covers the ashes of Holocaust victims. (LA Times)

6 Million Jews were annihilated. Obama mourns.

Nearly 50 Million abortions have been performed in the U.S. since 1973. The Centers for Disease Control reported that in 1993, over 17,000 abortions were performed at 21 weeks and later.

This is Partial-Birth Abortion, a procedure in which the abortionist pulls a living baby feet-first out of the womb and into the birth canal, except for the head, which the abortionist purposely keeps lodged just inside the cervix. The abortionist punctures the base of the baby's skull with a surgical instrument, such as a long surgical scissors or a pointed hollow metal tube called a trochar. He then inserts a tube into the wound, and removes the baby's brain with a powerful suction machine. This causes the skull to collapse, after which the abortionist completes the delivery of the now-dead baby.

Obama's record on abortion is extreme. He opposed the ban on partial-birth abortion -- a practice a fellow Democrat, the late Daniel Patrick Moynihan, once called "too close to infanticide." (Washington Post)

So, was Obama actually making a political move at the Holocaust Museum? Surely he does not hold life as something to be honored or protected. Ironically, he voiced his sorrow for those killed in the Holocaust but has his hand in killing millions of babies right here in the U.S.

"Reverend" Jesse Jackson

In an aside to another guest after a Fox News Channel interview on Sunday, "Reverend" Jackson had said Obama had been talking down to black people and added: "I want to cut his nuts out."

He said on CNN: "I was in a conversation with a fellow guest at Fox on Sunday. He asked about Barack's speeches lately at the black churches. I said it can come off as speaking down to black people."

Let's look at the word "Reverend". The Old Testament uses it (revered) twice and it means to fear.

Websters defines it as: Worthy of reverence; entitled to respect mingled with fear and affection; venerable.

Worthy of reverence? You have to be kidding.

Let's remove the title from our language altogether. The "reverends" are just like the rest of us.

We should never elevate a man, even by title, to a position that God alone should have.

Note From My Brother

I caused a furor when I worked at ACC by asking
why Chaplain V----, a white chaplain of South African descent, had not
been invited to the African-American Chaplains' Conference?

Boy, was everyone pissed at me... Especially when I insisted he was
probably more "African-American" than any of the blacks who were attending.

Life in the "Real World"

Why is it, usually during high school graduation ceremonies, that a speaker often says to the young graduates, "when you get out into the real world..."? What do people think, high school, jobs, family life etc. is NOT the real world? And where do they think kids live, in a protected bubble? What do you think this says to youth?

Why

Why do forms, legal documents and warranties, when writing a number, write it, then put the digit in parenthesis? "This is warranted for five (5) years". Don't we know how to read the word 'five' without a symbol to clarify it? If so, why don't we use symbols for all the other words we write?

NAACP

Some things bother me a lot. It annoys me when people don't want to be segregated, then segregate themselves. Blacks, change their identity every few years. Now, they want to be identified as African Americans. When I was recently in Africa, I brought this up to a man involved in our group. He said, "they are American's, not African Americans". And why don't we make this distinction with other nationalities, "hey, I'm Italio American, or I'm Israeli American? We don't because it sounds lame. But the blacks (excuse me, African Americans) don't follow their own rules. Look at their elite group, NAACP. It stands for National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Call one a colored person and watch what happens.

Why Our Schools Actually DON'T Believe In Evolution Despite What They Teach

Natural selection is the process by which individual organisms with favorable traits are more likely to survive and reproduce. Natural selection is one of the cornerstones of modern biology. The term was introduced by Charles Darwin in his groundbreaking 1859 book The Origin of Species. (Wikipedia)

I was taught, from an early age, by our secular educators, that Charles Darwin was right, we evolved. In the teaching of natural selection, the weaker link in any species, was eventually eliminated from the gene pool by virtue of the fact that they could not compete in strength or intelligence.

If evolution is true and it is a benefit to have the weaker of a species eliminated, why then do we post 15 MPH speed zones around our high schools? By the age of 14 to 18, wouldn't one think that a youth should know how to cross the street with the light and in a crosswalk? If not, should they be allowed to procreate?
